Product Description
This gritty guide shows both locals of and visitors to San Francisco what to do and where to stay, eat, and drink without breaking the bank. Cult fave Broke-Ass Stuart uncovers the city's secrets for the young, the beautiful, and the broke. They range from free Saturday BBQs every summer; to happy hours that up the ante to two-for-one; and even to the elusive Tamale Lady, who usually finds her customers rather than vice versa. Stuart thoughtfully includes photos and maps.

I lived in SF my entire life, and I didn't know about some of these affordable places!, 2008-12-15 I very recently purchased this book because I am a broke student with a graduate degree and a not so great paying job. Once I started reading this book, I noticed some of my usual favorite places to chow down in San Francisco, but there was even more places I never tried and I even passed by without noticing.
This is the perfect companion book not just for local residents, but for tourists on a budget, especially when visiting a major city can cost a lot of money a day.

Walk over to your local bookstore and buy this book!, 2008-02-16 I bought this book while waiting in line at the SFSU campus bookstore. It had tons and tons of great places to eat, drink, and adventure to in all districts of the City. And, as a bonus it is very well written, and quite funny. If you are a college student, recent San Francisco resident, or just in love with the City, you should get this book. Its a deal at $13. But, please don't buy it from amazon, go over to your local independent bookstore and buy it, even if its a little out of the way. I only use amazon to get the word out, but if you dont support local stores, books like this wouldn't exist.

Worth $12.95 as a piece of literature , 2008-01-27 This is the first travel book I have ever sat down and read cover to cover for my own enjoyment. Broke-ass Stuart is not a travel guide, it is a voice. Don't get me wrong, the book is informative; however, what sets it apart is Stuart himself, a street-wise hipster who perfectly balances going with the flow and traditional San Francisco irreverence. Finally, Stuart gives it to you straight. If a place is cheap and bad he'll say it. If a place is expensive, he'll tell you to bring a friend and split it. Stuart represents a growing population who just wants to go out, have a great time and pay rent at the end of the month.

Don't leave home without it, 2008-01-26 Ever found yourself stranded, starving, and without a clue as to where you can take your $10? Be thankful you've got this book with you. I personally wouldn't have an idea what to do if I were stuck in the Richmond, or, God-forbid, the Marina, but if lightning were to strike and I ended up there, this book would be my savior... great maps, inside tips, deals galore, and it's very, very cleverly written to boot... not just for tourists and douchebags, locals will love it as well. Do yourself a favor!
