Product Description

What would you do to inherit a million dollars? Would you be willing to change your life? Jason Stevens is about to find out in Jim Stovall's The Ultimate Gift. Red Stevens has died, and the older members of his family receive their millions with greedy anticipation. But a different fate awaits young Jason, whom Stevens, his great-uncle, believes may be the last vestige of hope in the family. "Although to date your life seems to be a sorry excuse for anything I would call promising, there does seem to be a spark of something in you that I hope we can fan into a flame. For that reason, I am not making you an instant millionaire." What Stevens does give Jason leads to The Ultimate Gift. Young and old will take this timeless tale to heart.

4 out of 5 starsChallenge to growth, 2009-01-07
THE ULTIMATE GIFT is a thought-provoking story of personal growth. While the motivations are superficial (earning a stake in a large bequest), the changes in qualities of character are real. On the down side, some readers will find it a bit too pat. It's really a 21th century version of the old morality plays of the Middle Ages. There's nothing wrong with that: we all want to grow in moral character, and THE ULTIMATE GIFT defines the path to growth.

3 out of 5 starsToo much of a fairy tale, 2008-12-28
The best word I can come up with to describe this book is "meh". It was just so-so. Slightly interesting story with some very valuable points. However, its just too fake. It is meant to be a sort of inspirational book but I just doesn't do it for me with such make believe ideas. The world doesn't work the way Stovall portrays in the book and therefore I can't relate to the points he tries to make.

Luckily it is short and a very easy read. So if you have access to it, read it. Just don't buy it and if you do don't pay full price.

4 out of 5 starsThe Ultimate Gift to give, 2008-12-22
I gave this book to my 13 year old grandson who would rather be playing sports and he enjoyed it so much that he read it in a few days. My daughter-in-law was so surprised at his enthusiasm that she read it also.

It's wonderful to see the whole family reading together.

This was a short easy to read book that left me feeling inspired. I would recommend it as a good pick me up.

Great book - should be required reading for all high school students (everyone for that matter) as far as I'm concerned.
